Dodgey Fags off the street

Last week officers from Bedworth East SNT attended shipping container businesses alongside Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards and specialist dog handlers as part of ongoing efforts to tackle the sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco.

During the operation, a trained detection dog identified a container storing over 200,000 illegal cigarettes, concealed inside boxes and even hidden within deep fat fryers.

All tobacco products were seized at the scene. Trading Standards will now be conducting a full investigation into the owners of the container.

A notice has also been given to a store in Bedworth Town Centre that are selling illegal cigarettes and tobacco and will be shutdown in due course.
